Whiskey finished his
championship two weeks after his second birthday by taking 3
majors in two weekends! He had a very successful run to
his title. As a puppy he took several Best Puppy awards,
and placed in the puppy group every time. He won his
first point from the 6-9 puppy class. Whiskey won Best
of Breed from the 12-18 Month Class. At 21 months, Whiskey was
awarded an International BEST IN SHOW. In
September, 2004, at 19 months old, Whiskey placed in his class
at the GRCA National Specialty. As he worked his way
through the classes, there were very few shows where he wasn't
in the ribbons! Many thanks to his handler, Colette
Livingston, for doing such a wonderful job! On a few
occasions when Colette wasn't available, her brothers Clint
and Brian showed Whiskey, and were successful as well.
Whiskey has had
significant success in the Specials ring with Colette and
Janice Hayes. In very
limited showing as a special, he was awarded BOB several times,
multiple Group placements, and a Best In Specialty Show under
respected breeder judge Ms. Nancy Talbot in November 2005 at
the Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club Specialty.
Because of his successful (although short) specials career,
Whiskey was ranked in the Top 20 in 2006.
Whiskey is a
substantially-boned, deep-bodied Golden Retriever, standing
23-1/4" at the shoulder and weighing 73 lbs. He has a medium-gold
heavy double coat with light furnishings and no wave. His head
is gorgeous – short, square muzzle, and a broad backskull.
Whiskey's expression is alert, kind and gentle, with very dark
eyes. He has full dentition and proper scissors bite, no
dropped incisors. His pigment is dark. Whiskey has good length
of neck that blends into well laid-back shoulders. He is short
in loin with medium length of back and a correct tail set and
carriage. He has very tight cat-like feet. His angulation is
correct and balanced. Whiskey's topline is very strong, even
on the move. He has balanced reach and drive, and converges
beautifully to a center line of balance. He is clean
coming and going.
Whiskey’s temperament is ideal. He is fearless and
self-confident, and a lover first and foremost. New
situations do not bother him, and he’s everyone’s best friend,
including other dogs. He gets along well with other intact
males, neutered males, and bitches alike. He is extremely
smart and learns quickly. His main goal in life is to please
everyone. We call him our little Love Sponge! He is very showy and lights up when he gets near a
show ring. |
